Stake Youth Council

Our Stake Youth Council will be key to helping us spread the word to all the youth in our stake about this years trek.  We hope the council can spread excitement, interest, commitment and spiritual stories to all the wards in our stake.

To this end, we have a few jobs for our Stake Youth Council.

1- The council members will visit the YM & YW from their own wards and demonstrate to them the proper way to dress and further plan for Trek

2- The council will plan stake youth hikes at least once a month during the months of April and May.  This will give our youth opportunities to hike together and to prepare physically for the demands of trek.

Brother and Sister LaBass will be at the SYC meeting on Feb. 20 sharing the information below.  We ask that each of you team up and share this information with your ward on March 27, 2022.

Ward Visits From Youth Council

Simi Valley Trek 2022

  • Dates:

    •  June 9-11, 2022

  • Trek Clothing:

    • Women/Men example

    • Ideally, young women’s blouses should be lightweight and long-sleeved, and their skirts should reach the midcalf, with bloomers or capri length yoga pants  underneath to prevent chafing. Lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and comfortable, loose-fitting pants are recommended for the young men. Cotton fabrics are generally recommended. To help reduce the likelihood of blisters, participants are encouraged to wear (1) walking or hiking shoes that are broken in and (2) two pairs of socks at a time. Ideally the inner sock is thin and synthetic, while the outer sock is wool or a wool blend. Socks that wick away moisture are the most helpful. Smartwool!  Socks that are a wool-synthetic blend can also help reduce the potential for blisters. NO SWIMSUITS, SHORTS OR SHORT SHIRTS. Bring basketball shorts and dark t-shirts for the water hole or you will not be allowed in the water hole.

  • Riley’s Farm

    •  The Trail is a beautiful fire road up on the hills of Cherry Valley

    •  Hand Carts are 4 X 4 X 4

    • We will be piggy backing our trek with a stake from Las Vegas so we will get to meet a lot of new people.  Your “families” will only be with people from our stake.

    • Food will be wonderful because we don’t have to cook it!!!

  • Theme

    • Angels Among Us

    • “I have pulled my hand cart when I was so weak and weary from illness and lack of food that I could hardly put one foot ahead of the other. I have looked ahead and seen a patch of sand or a hill slope and I have said I can go only that far and there I must give up for I cannot pull the load through it. I have gone on to that sand and when I reached it the cart began pushing me. I have looked back many times to see who was pushing my cart but my eyes saw no one. I knew then that the Angels of God were there.”
