Riley Farms
Leave no Trace - Please encourage your kids to not throw any wrappers or garbage on the ground along the trail. There will be sufficient trash cans to make sure we don't litter along the beautiful trails we will be walking on.
Saturday Night Dinner
Saturday night on the way home, we will be stopping for a quick dinner. Please send your child with $10 to pay for their dinner.
Parent Letters
We invite parents to write a
letter to their son or daughter that will be delivered on the last day of trek. The youth typically are not
told in advance that their parents are writing this letter.
Parents are invited to express their love, testimony, and
other thoughts and feelings with their son or daughter.
A grandparent, bishop, home
teacher, or other influential adult could write the letter
if a parent cannot.
Miles Covered
Day 1- 7 Miles
Day 2- 3 1/2 Miles
Day 3 - 2 Miles
Elevation
We will be around 4,800 feet in elevation. There will be points that we reach as high as 5,200 feet and as low as 4,300 feet.
Walk for your Ancestors
Each participant will be asked to do a little research on an ancestor. Your family member does not have to have been a pioneer that crossed the plains, but if you have one then that would be wonderful. Please find an ancestor with a story where they showed courage, faith or overcame adversity. Feel free to use the Pioneer Summary Sheet as an aid in your research.
Do we have to cook our own food?
NO!!!!!!!
We have two wonderful cooks from our stake that will be cooking all the food for us. And the tentative menu looks delicious. If you have any food allergies, please include those in your paperwork that you will fill out at the Kick off Fireside on April 24th.
Do you play the guitar?
If you do then contact President Patrick Rose! He will be assembling a group of youth who play the guitar. This group will play the certain hymns while the company sings them on Thursday night. This will be a wonderful experience.
